The Project

I started the iheartpetaluma project during the Butter and Egg Days Parade 8 or more years ago.   With the simple idea of “tell us why you love Petaluma and I’ll give you an iheartpetaluma button”, what resulted, is a love letter to our wonderful town. In the words of the locals, they express what makes Petaluma so very special.

As a realtor, I can’t think of a better way to explain to someone considering moving here, what the town is like and what the people love about it. 

You can contribute your thoughts on Petaluma here, or visit the Mail Depot at 4th and C Streets downtown to write your thoughts down in the iheartpetaluma notebook. You’ll see the word “community” often in the remarks. It really is a special community. At the center of it all is Maureen McGuigan who owns the Mail Depot. Pop in during business hours and you will experience community first hand. 

Born and raised on the East Coast, I made my way to California nearly 40 years ago and never looked back. The West coast suited me immediately – it’s people and places – and it has become my forever home. 

After 20 years of city living in San Francisco, my husband and I longed for a place with a small-town feel, but close to the city where we could have a yard, grow a garden and enjoy small town charm with big world amenities. We found everything right here in Petaluma. Great food, entertainment, close proximity to the charming downtown and for me, easy walking distance to the grocery store, just 10 blocks away in the center of town. (I am a daily walker about town and if you are a Petaluman you have likely seen me hoofing it about in the downtown area.)

2020 marks 20 years in Petaluma for us and we couldn’t be happier and feel more at home in our town!

I am a licensed real estate professional, an avid walker (did I say that already?), a Certified Sonoma County Tourism Ambassador, a volunteer at the Petaluma Visitor Center and a Certified San Francisco City Guide.
